The finale episode of 13 Reasons Why season 4 received a lot of criticisms from the viewers of the series. 

For the past 3 seasons of the series, it was filled with mysteries and cliffhanger endings. However, viewers were expecting that 13 Reasons Why season 4 should put an end to all of the unexplained things surrounding the series. 

Based on the scenes from 13 Reasons Why season 4 finale episode, it is understandable why fans were furious with its plot twist. The scenes were pretty much maddening. It did not even give the fans and followers the ending that they have been expecting all along.

As a result, fans criticized the finale on how it closed the series with a character’s death. To prove the latter, viewers have voiced their grudge on Twitter.  One fan tweeted:

Another viewer described the series as traumatic and even used the word “bothersome” to express the thought.

Plot twist 

The plot twist for 13 Reasons Why season 4 was uncalled for. Given that the series aired with 10 episodes, viewers were demanding a satisfying end to the vexed adaptation of Jay Asher’s novel.

However, viewers that binged all of 13 Reasons Why season 4 episodes on Netflix were quick to express their disappointment regarding the plot twist. The cause of dismay was how Justin Foley was killed in the series

Storyline 

Looking back in the pilot episode of 13 Reasons Why, it revealed that death was imminent. However, the chosen character that would die was Justin. It was unexpected because Justin’s role in the series was a pivotal one.

Questions were raised because he already recovered from heroin addiction but would meet his demise when he contracted HIV, which eventually led to AIDS. Moreover, Justin’s death was a big blow to the viewers. It released a hellfire of negative reactions from the fans and followers of the series. 

What to Expect 

Viewers even relayed that the series failed to see the reality of things. It has missed the opportunity to show that HIV and AIDS is no longer a strong threat of the 21st century. On a side note, the series has done a great job of playing with emotions. One of the actors, Devin Druid said:

 “We were really fortunate that Netflix gave us the opportunity to have this many seasons and write an actual ending. Not every show has that same luxury, so I’m really grateful.”

For the fans and followers, the last 10-episode clanger of the series was supposed to give closure, but the ending was not what they expected it to be.
