505 Games confirmed that a Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night sequel is in “very early planning stages”, noting their focus right now is on the first game.
Over the past week, minor details revealed the 505 Games has a sequel on the works for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. The devs now confirmed this, but also detailed that their priority is adding more content for the original title.
Bloodstained sequel info came from financial report
Late last month, Digital Bros, the parent company of Bloodstained publisher 505 Games, mentioned a “second version” of the game in development in its financial report. This information was noteworthy, as the game is still adding fresh content.

With recent reports revealed, 505 Games, together with Artplay, confirmed the news. In a Twitter post, they noted how the game is in “very early planning stages”.
“Regarding recent reports, 505 Games and Artplay are in very early planning stages for a Bloodstained sequel,” said the post shared June 4.
“However, current development resources are focused on completing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night’s upcoming content. We have a lot planned for you.”
It’s great to know that the Castlevania spiritual successor will get something in the works. Even then, it’s better to learn that 505 and ArtPlay is not yet abandoning the first title.
Ritual of the Night successful even after early hurdles
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was one of the more beloved recent titles. The game is spearheaded by Koji Igarashi, the former series producer for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. He, among others, pioneered the Metroidvania genre.
According to the financial report, RotN made more than $30 million so far. The game is also noted to have potential sales of another $30 million in its life cycle. The sidescrolling title is quite enjoyable and also received the support of the fans.
The game launched one of the most successful Kickstarters in the history of the organization. Bloodstained was able to generate over $5.5 million from over 65,000 pledges. It raised more money than any other game in history sans Shenmue III.
The game originally expected to launch around 2017, but eventually came out in June 2019. Artplay missed several launch windows too, but those are behind the game now.
Bloodstained now has quite a few post-launch content added. These include releasing a playable character, Zangetsu, and a Randomizer mode.
Earlier this year, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night also released a Classic Mode that returned the game to a 2D gameplay with modern 3D graphics.
