9-1-1 season 4 has been confirmed and now fans are looking for more details. The American procedural TV series just finished season 3 and there some questions that needs to be answered.
According to reports, Fox announced the green light for 9-1-1 season 4 just one month before the season 3 finale. There is no premiere date yet.
Fox already revealed though that the fourth season will be delayed. They usually drop a new season around September.
But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, followers of the series will have to wait a little longer than usual. It’s expected to come around 2021.
No cliffhangers
The show’s filming for season 3 was fortunately not affected by the global health crisis. They were able to wrap up production as planned and they put out the intended season finale.
And while it didn’t end with a cliffhanger, there are still questions that needs to be answered. The show closed with Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Chimney (Kenneth Choi) revealing that they are going to be parents.
As for Michael (Rockmond Dunbar), he received a good news about his health and even got the chance to reconnect with the doctor he met in the elevator.
Buck’s (Oliver Stark) ending wasn’t so happy. He met up with Abby (Connie Britton) but unfortunately for him, she’s already engaged. Hen (Aisha Hinds) on the other hand is faced with making a major decision about her future.
What’s next?
There are a lot of plots to explore in 9-1-1 season 4 but many are wondering if the series creators are going to touch on the current pandemic.
Executive producer Tim Minear said that while he doesn’t want to ignore COVID-19, he also does not want the show to become about that. But he didn’t completely shut down the idea.
“Probably what you’ll find is when we come back, our characters will have been through what our audience has been through,” Minear said. “They will have been through this period of quarantine.”

It’s not known yet if there’s going to be a time jump and if fans are even going to see Maddie pregnant. There’s a possibility that the series will pick up after she has given birth.
Minear also teased that season 4 will show Maddie and Chimney going through the early stages of parenthood.
There are also talks about 9-1-1 having a cross over with its spin-off series 9-1-1: Lone Star. The spin-off series had a solar storm and there’s a possibility that the showrunners are going to do the same with the mother series.
Stay tuned for more details on 9-1-1 season 4.
