There is still hope for a future Batgirl movie in the DC cinematic universe, according to a recent investor presentation by AT&T.
The Batgirl movie seems to be in the works at Warner Bros. The investor presentation of AT&T confirmed it through a graphical logo for the project.
It may be in its very early stages of development, though.
‘Batgirl’ movie: Everything you need to know
During the presentation, AT&T displayed a screen showing various future DC movies, shows, and video games. And among them was a logo for Batgirl. It implies that the film is still in the works and canceled, and way back in March 2017, its official reveal was announced.
At that time, Joss Whedon was supposed to helm, write, and produce the film. It was expected to take inspiration from the New 52 iteration of Barbara Gordon, a.k.a., Batgirl.
After a year, in February 2018, it revealed that Whedon had left the project. And the following April, Christina Hodson came in to pen the script.
Since then, she has written scripts for last year’s Birds of Prey and The Flash. However, so far, there’s been no news over the Barbara Gordon movie.
But the good thing is that it’s happening and will arrive at some point in the next few years.
New DC titles coming in the future
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. is preparing to build its unique superhero cinematic universe grandly. And it seems like there are multiple installments set to make a debut soon in the future.
Speaking of upcoming DC titles then some of the most-awaited projects are The Suicide Squad reboot, The Flash, Black Adam, and The Batman. The latter stars Robert Pattinson as the new Bruce Wayne, a.k.a., The Dark Knight.
Matt Reeves is helming the film which is expected to finish filming by this month.
Furthermore, the third part of Wonder Woman is also in the works already. WB announced it at the end of 2020. The threequel will bring back the duo of director Patty Jenkins and actress Gal Gadot.
Aquaman 2 is also set to go into production, finally this summer. Actor Jason Momoa will return in his now-iconic role of Arthur King, the King of Atlantis. However, there are still several issues surrounding the sequel.
Due to fans’ backlash, it’s still not officially confirmed whether or not actress Amber Heard will reprise her role of Mera.
She dismissed rumors of her getting fired from the title last year. But there are no signs of an actual statement from the makers, so far, on this matter.
Coming back to the Batgirl movie, again, then currently, there’s no other information available about it.
