A guide to ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ fireworks show

Animal Crossing: New Horizons during an actual fireworks display

Animal Crossing: New Horizons just had Summer update wave 2 rolled out, part of which is a feature that gives players celebratory events, involving fireworks, that they themselves can participate in.

Hosted by Jolly Redd every Sunday, this gives players the chance to encounter flashes of fireworks five times across August. Particularly, players can participate in the event at 7 PM on the following August dates: 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30.

Although the event will see the plaza as its epicenter, the overall occasion itself is a hard miss. This is because the fireworks display is visible anywhere in the island where there is a clear view of the sky.

What is there to see?

Like fireworks display in the real world, the main highlight of a similar event is the showcase of flashy lights. The kind that is peculiar to fireworks, of course.

Adding to the marvelous experience, players can also interact with the villagers during the event. Some of which have the possibility of giving you a gift, relative to the occasion taking place.

With that idea in mind, be sure to speak to Isabelle. This NPC has a surprising gift to every player, the kind you get of which varies randomly:

  • Bulb bopper
  • Heart bopper
  • Flower bopper
  • Star bopper

Seeing a pre-made firework showcase by default is fun and amazing. However, even players can directly participate in it by submitting custom designs that will manifest during the active show.

Setting up Custom Fireworks

If you have a custom design, which you would like to display during a fireworks display, simply talk to Isabelle. From there, you will be provided 10 slots where you can place your custom designs.

Being a once-a-week event, the idea creates a perfect opportunity for you to highlight your creativity by showing your best designs.

Raffle and Prizes

As an event hosted by the art seller himself, Jolly Redd, this NPC also runs a raffle for players to join. For only 500 bells, players can buy a ticket that gives a chance to win an event-exclusive item.

Overall, there is a total of 12 items that a player could potentially win as a reward:

  • Blue balloon
  • Blue sparkler
  • Bubble blower
  • Fountain firework
  • Green balloon
  • Pink balloon
  • Pinwheel
  • Red balloon
  • Red sparkler
  • Tweeter
  • Uchiwa fan
  • Yellow balloon

Do note that there’s no limit to the number of times you could join Redd’s raffle. Consequently, this gives you infinite chances of getting all 12 unique prizes during a single event.
