Krafton is developing a new game described simply as a Korean version of The Witcher.
The developer and publisher of PUBG seems to have something big in its hand. Word came about that Krafton’s latest project involves the video game adaptation of the Korean novel, The Bird That Drinks Tears.
Evidence
Digging through a press conference via Twitter, PlayerIGN found evidences pointing to the claim. However, instead of being specific to a video game creation, the reference spoke of further reworking towards comics and films. This also comes following Krafton’s earlier announcement on a plan to generate a “multimedia franchise” out of the book.
Announced is a game revealed inspired by Korean fantasy novel: 'The Bird That Drinks Tears.'
Like with 'The Witcher' series specifically, Krafton wants to expand this game into other forms of media like film and comics.

Giving the press something to look into, the company sought the talent of Hollywood artist Iain McCaig for the concept. Which, by looking into the shared images, shows the person’s reputable top-class ability in producing high-quality art. In particular, a visual depiction of two characters, namely a warrior, Kagan Draca, and an anthropomorphic chicken, Tynahan. McCaig is known for some of the most iconic designs in the entertainment industry, such as Star Wars’ Padme Amidala and Darth Maul.
Big Promise
Krafton has already established itself as a game development company through its long-standing franchise, PUBG. While the game is not necessarily particularly groundbreaking in terms of visuals, it nonetheless gave birth to a new genre. Although, a developing title based on the franchise does seem to show the developer’s upgraded talent in graphics design. Which, if anything, raises so much hope of a far better-looking battle royale shooter from the company that originally gave shape to it all.
The claim for creating a potential iteration of The Witcher is a strong one, however. If it were to live up to the notion, then Krafton will have to focus on the quality of The Witcher III. The very same title that brought CD Projekt Red into the spotlight from an independent game developer status. Not merely for its groundbreaking image quality, but also for its overall solid gameplay structure. One that merited it the plethora of awards it had received since its release.
Worthy Contender
Although highly-ambitious, Krafton’s pledge for a big-budget dark fantasy title a la The Witcher is promising. This statement alone is enough to keep people’s heads turning towards the company’s direction for a long while.
To date, the third entry in the franchise remains CDPR’s greatest success in the business, however. That is, following a disastrous, but somewhat successful, launch of its supposed newest hitmaker, Cyberpunk 2077. Thus, putting the same game in a similar pedestal as a landmark RPG to either mimic or surpass.
