There’s a long history of Quake when it comes to id Software’s beginning as a studio. It’s one of the original franchises that the developer started upon entering the industry.
However, compared to its other titles, such as DOOM, Quake has not fared well with the gamers. But now, a recent rumor has ignited fresh buzz among those who enjoyed the original FPS series.
During The XboxEra Podcast, industry insider Shpeshal Nick revealed a possible Quake reboot is happening soon. What’s even more interesting to note is that it’s said to feature a female in the lead.
Nick said that he received a Discord message detailing the next big entry in the first-person shooter franchise. He added that MachineGames would also assist in its development.
For a long time, id Software wanted to include a female protagonist even in the DOOM titles. Now, it might do that in the future based on the ongoing rumors.
A QuakeCon event is also taking place this August, and it may mean there is a possibility of a big reveal from id Software. However, no release date is known now when it comes to the information about the reboot.
So, those excited should take this news with a grain of salt unless there is an actual announcement.
