Recently, global consulting firm Accenture said that it has already recovered after the LockBit ransomware attack on its system. But Twitter users said that the company’s data was already leaked on the dark web.
Accenture said that when it detected irregular activity on its system, it immediately isolated affected servers to prevent further damage. It also added that it has fully restored all the affected servers through their backup systems.
No big impact
The company also said that even with the LockBit attack, it didn’t make any big impact on its operations, including its clients’ systems. But even though this was good news for the consulting giant, Twitter users said that they have already accessed Accenture’s leaked data on the dark web.
The data that was leaked includes PowerPoints presentations, quotes, case studies, and other confidential data. There are some Twitter users who have complained that the heavy website traffic has prevented them from actually downloading the data.
Not immune from cyber attacks
Even with its global clout, Accenture is not immune from the attacks of cybercriminals.
Giant companies such as Colonial Pipeline and JBS meatpacking company were also attacked by ransomware which forced these companies to shell out ransom money and send them to the hackers in the form of cryptocurrency.
Accenture is an Irish-based multinational company that provides consulting and professional services. It is a Fortune Global 500 company and had a revenue of $44.3 billion in 2020.
