Apple will reportedly launch the AirPods 3 and the AirPods Pro 2 sometime in 2021, and they won’t be too different from the current ones.
Apple is expected to still have one more event lined up this year. Earlier speculations are unanimous that the company will release a new computer. However, no one is sure yet as to which device it will be. The toss-up is only between a MacBook Pro or an iMac. One thing for sure is that it will already be run by an Apple Silicon.
In the same expected event, Apple is foreseen to release some other core products from the company. If the iPhone 12 announcement was any indication, the accompanying device will not be a big one to steal the thunder from the new computer.
AirPods Pro 2 will have a shorter stem
Earlier this year, it has been rumored that Apple is significantly trying to shorten the stem on the AirPods Pro. They’ve successfully done the same from the regular AirPods 2 to the AirPods Pro. However, there are other devices out there that don’t have stems at all such as the Galaxy Buds Live.
These stemless devices deliver an experience almost at par with the AirPods Pro. As such, the challenge is on the table for Apple to deliver. The AirPods series is still the most dominating true wireless earbuds in the market.
However, competitors are slowly biting away from their market share. Sony’s WF-1000XM3 True Wireless Earbuds have been topping most review charts on the internet. Objectively speaking, the reviews highlight that Sony’s pair delivers the most impeccable sound and overall experience.

Although, there’s a caveat. These reviews of course highlight the seamlessness that the AirPods Pro delivers with Apple product users. As such, the comparison is really not apples to apples.
AirPods 3 will look like the Pro models
Similar to the rumors earlier this year, Bloomberg reports that the AirPods 3 will look similar to the current AirPods Pro. In other words, it will have a shorter and more curved stem. The biggest highlight will be the ear tips, which the users can interchange for a more snug fit.
Not only does it stick to the ears better, but it also gives a better enclosure on the ear canal that provides a better noise-canceling experience. This feature will come in handy as Apple will reportedly keep active noise-canceling on the Pro model. It means that Apple will still scrimp on the features on the AirPods 3 to provide a greater differentiation to the Pro model.
