The AirPods Pro 2 is reportedly on track for a release during the second half of 2021 after the launch of the AirPods 3.
Apple’s announcement regarding the AirPods during WWDC 2020 made early investments on the device a stroke of genius. Apple not only upgraded the functionality of the AirPods, but it also made it more lockdown friendly because of the Spatial Audio feature. Video streamers do not have to go to the theater anymore to get a digital surround sound experience.
AirPods Pro 2 in the second half of 2021
DigiTimes reports that the AirPods Pro 2 is slated to be released sometime in 2021. Ming-Chi Kuo originally reported that the AirPods Pro 2 would enter production during the second half of 2021. After this, they will ship out early in 2022. However, the timings have shifted.
Note that only Apple can confirm if these rumors are true. Nonetheless, the excitement for the successor of the AirPods Pro 2 is high. Not many details are known about the second generation of Apple’s wireless earbuds. However, they will allegedly have better features for monitoring the health of the user.
Earlier leaks say that the AirPods Pro 2 internals will be upgraded to be able to track its users’ health. Once the earbuds are put on, the machine could track the heart rate, steps count, and head movements of the user. While these are just rumors, the last feature is already available in the current AirPods Pro.
It is the same mechanism that allows Spatial Audio to work seamlessly with video content. Therefore, there could be a sliver of truth to these premature rumors.
AirPods 3 rumors
While the AirPods Pro 2 is still cooking up in the production line, Apple is set to fill the wireless buds itch with the AirPods 3. Early rumors point to the idea that the AirPods 3 will look the same with the AirPods Pro. In other words, AirPods users will have to adjust with an in-ear setup instead of the usual hard tip.
Apple’s AirPods was problematic when it shipped its first generation. The masses mocked it because it looked like ear swabs sticking out the users’ ears. Nonetheless, the company still shipped the most number of true wireless earbuds in the market.
Apple also followed up the AirPods with a powerful AirPods Pro equipped with noise-canceling features. The new AirPods 3 is expected to ship at the same price points as its predecessors. However, new upgrades on the earbuds such as noise-canceling or water resistance could increase the price slightly.
