Aliens: Fireteam has now changed its name, now known as Aliens: Fireteam Elite. Apart from that, the game is now available for pre-purchase on several channels.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite is inverting much of the premise of Alien: Isolation. This time, it’s players who will do the hunting. Players will play as an “elite” squad of marines are looking to exterminate an entire swathe of monster ETs.
Aliens franchise has mixed bag of good and bad games
The Aliens franchise has a mixed bag when it comes to its video games. At its most successful, Alien Isolation offers some of the scariest stealth horror out there. The game is enjoyable and terrifying at the same time, giving us the zenith of the franchise.
On the other hand, the series also has Aliens: Colonial Marines back in 2013. The game, following nearly the same premise as Fireteam. The game follows Marines trying to exterminate an Alien infestation for Weyland-Yutani.
While Isolation was the height of the franchise, Colonial Marines was the absolute low. The game, even though it sold more than a million copies, received negative reviews. Now, Fireteam Elite is looking to correct that.
Fireteam Elite will have four players, with mechanics akin to the gameplay of Left 4 Dead. With that said, hordes upon hordes of Aliens will attack players and rain upon their position.
New Aliens game will come with two price points
Aliens: Fireteam Elite is looking to maximize the goodwill that Isolation made among the player base. Even then, it also runs the risk of getting lost under the shadow of the latter game.
Fireteam Elite is currently available for pre-purchase on Steam. The game also has several price points, depending on what players want to do. The base title starts at $40, with a Deluxe Edition coming at around $70.
The Deluxe Edition will include the Endeavor Season Pass, which should include future DLCs. These DLCs will be mostly cosmetic bundles that players can use.
“Set in the iconic Alien universe, Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a cooperative third-person survival shooter that drops your fireteam of hardened marines into a desperate fight to contain the evolving Xenomorph threat,” said the description.
“Face off against waves of terrifying Xenomorph and Weyland-Yutani Synthetic foes alongside two players or AI teammates, as you and your fireteam desperately fight your way through four unique campaigns that introduce new storylines to the Alien universe.”
Aliens: Fireteam Elite has a weird name change to it but it’s coming out soon. The game is coming on August 25 and will come out for both PC and consoles.
