Amazon will turn the 1997 horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer into a TV series. It will arrive by next year.
According to IGN, Amazon has announced that it will bring back the movie, but in a series.
The adaptation of the 1997 movie will be expanded into a full-fledged TV show. It will stream on Amazon Prime Videos, the online streaming service.
The series will also be based on Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel of the same name.
‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ series plot details
Amazon has said that its series will be a modern version of the classic film. And that it will feature the same storyline involving the group of teens stalked by a killer.
Speaking on the upcoming series, COO and co-head of the TV at Amazon Studios, Albert Chang said:
“The best horror franchises always have another scare coming. This I Know What You Did Last Summer series from Sara Goodman is a perfectly twisted update to the iconic slasher movie.”
I Know What You Did Last Summer will be written and produced by Sara Goodman. In the past, she’s also written episodes for Gossip Girl, Preacher, and Outsider.
Sony Pictures Television is also a partner in the production of this show.
New shows arriving on Amazon Prime
Speaking of upcoming projects from Amazon, then there are many. Ongoing shows include The Lord of the Rings web series. It is inspired by the films and mostly from JRR Tolkien’s novels in the blockbuster franchise.
The list of new shows in various languages also has Invincible, The Missing One, Them, and Fairfax. Operations Totems, Voltaire Mixte, A League of Their Own, Bang Bang Baby, and The Banker’s Wife are in the slot as well.
Other projects include I Bought The Farm, Daisy Jones & The Six, Do Re & Mi, and Dom, and The Expatriates.
For now, Amazon is focusing on multiple titles and also movies coming under its streaming platform.
Recent TV series The Boys, which ended a few days ago, was once again popular among viewers. The second season was filled with unexpected episodes and twists.
Its first season last year was an unprecedented success for the makers and cast members. The unfiltered and raw reality of superhero lives is shown in this series in a brutal yet relevant manner.
Currently, there are talks and rumors of several spin-off shows based on popular characters in The Boys. They may arrive next to next year on Amazon Prime Video.
Apart from this, a third season of the series is also inevitable.
