Amber Heard claimed that Johnny Depp abused her when they were still together. However, to show Depp’s innocence, his exes Vanessa Paradis and Winona Ryder released statements to support him.
Amber Heard supports The Sun’s legal battle against Johnny Depp. The latter sued the publication for calling him “wife-beater.”
Vanessa Paradis and Winona Ryder, two women in Depp’s life before Heard, joined together to share what type of partner Depp was. Both denied Heard’s claims that Depp was abusive.
In fact, for them, the Pirates of the Caribbean star was kind and sensitive. In contrast to the Aquaman star’s allegations, he was never violent when he was with them.
“Through all these years I’ve known Johnny to be a kind, attentive, generous, and non-violent person and father,” Paradis said (via Daily Mail). “He was never violent or abusive to me.”
“I cannot wrap my head around (Ms Heard’s) accusations,” Ryder said in her statement. “He was never, never violent towards me. He was never, never abusive at all towards me.”
Amber Heard’s spokesperson reacted to the statements released by Johnny Depp’s exes. For them, the statements from Depp’s exes are not significant to prove Depp’s innocence against Heard’s claims.
“In relation to Vanessa Paradis and Winona Ryder’s evidence, we are glad they did not have the same experience as Ms Heard. However, one woman’s experience does not determine the experience of another woman,” the spokesperson said.
If Amber Heard’s camp finds Paradis and Ryder’s statements’ insignificant, other people have the opposite reaction. American blogger Perez Hilton believed that their statement was important to prove Johnny Depp’s innocence.
In fact, he apologized to the Fantastic Beasts’ actor for believing in Heard and not his exes. According to Hilton, “Typically, usually men who are violent, historically they are violent in multiple relationships.”
“I feel like I owe Johnny Depp another apology,” Hilton said.
“I want to apologize to Johnny Depp for not believing all of the other women in his life.”
Aside from Johnny Depp’s exes’ statements, between the two, it’s Amber Heard who has a history of domestic abuse.
In 2009, Heard spent a night in jail for “misdemeanor domestic violence.” She reportedly assaulted her then-girlfriend Tasya van Ree.
Heard grabbed van Ree by her arm and yanked the necklace off her neck at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Several witnesses saw the incident.
However, the prosecutor dropped the charges because the two were not residents in Seattle and were only passing through Washington State.
