On her fourth day on the witness stand, Amber Heard told the London High Court how her former husband seemed to be out of his mind after a drug and alcohol binge. She also talked about the texts she sent to her mother, Paige Parsons.
The trial is about Depp’s libel case filed against The Sun after the British newspaper published an article that named him a “wife-beater.” It’s based on Heard’s allegations that he had repeatedly assaulted her throughout their relationship, which the actor vehemently denied.
“He makes dad look like a saint when he falls off the wagon,” the 34-year-old actress said, per Page Six.
The Aquaman star revealed the time at their rental home where she saw the 57-year-old actor seemed to be “out of his mind.” He was, allegedly, scrawling messages using “paint and blood.”
“When I first opened the door that last morning, there was what appears to be mashed potatoes and gravy or something rubbed all over the door,” she said. “I remember there was a bird, which scared me to death.”
Heard believed the bird in question flew in through a broken window.
She saw blood, tons of what seemed to be blood painting on the walls, and raw meat on the floor and “hidden in places.” When she went downstairs, she heard Depp playing death metal music, “blasting really loud.”
There were also a lot of broken glasses that she couldn’t find a pathway to walk.
Heard then talked about her father, and how he witnessed violence at her own home when growing up.
She admitted her dad also struggled with alcohol and had drug abuse issues his whole life, The Guardian noted.
“He is an addict and an alcoholic, and he was very violent, but I love him very much,” she said.
Heard also sent text messages to her mother when Depp refused to “leave the breakfast room.”
Allegedly, the Pirates of the Caribbean star was snorting cocaine and drinking whiskey for over a day. The model claimed he had been doing it for about 36 hours. At the time, she was still “unfamiliar with his patterns.”
He wanted her to admit she was having an affair with her former partner, Tasya van Ree, and another guy she didn’t know.
“It’s terrible, Mum, I don’t know what to do,” Heard told her mom in a text. “He’s nuts, Mum, violent and crazy. I’m heartbroken that this is who I love.”
Later, she sent another one, assuring her mother she’s OK. “It’s OK. He’s not being violent to me,” she said. “The crazy mood swings and hard to handle.”
Anyhow, Amber Heard didn’t want her mom to tell her father what was really happening to her.
