Amber Heard clears rumors, will return in ‘Aquaman 2’

Actress Amber Heard officially cleared the rumors saying that she is still the part of Aquaman 2. And that she will return as Mera in the sequel.

According to ComicbookMovie, Amber Heard will reprise the role of Mera in Aquaman 2. The actress also denied all the “cancellation rumors.” They claimed that she’s going to be replaced in the DC movie sequel. It was due to her court case with actor Johnny Depp.

However, Heard has now very transparently answered all the doubts and questions.

Amber Heard role in Aquaman 2 and plot details

Right now, there’s no development over the script and character details in the upcoming sequel to 2018’s blockbuster film. But according to Heard herself, she will start shooting soon when the productions officially begin.

In the next part, she will come back as the future Queen of Atlantis.

She also criticized the paid campaigns on social media who targeted her. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, she said, “paid rumors and paid campaigns on social media don’t dictate [casting decisions] because they have no basis in reality.”

On being part of the second installment, she expressed her happiness as well.

“I’m super excited about the amount of fan love and the amount of fan appreciation that Aquaman has acquired and that it has garnered so much excitement for Aquaman and Mera that it means we’ll be coming back,” she added. “I’m so excited to film that.”

The case with actor Johnny Depp

After the recent result of the “libel case” in which actor Depp lost against The Sun, many people trolled Amber Heard online. They targeted the actress and urged that she must be removed from Aquaman 2. The petition regarding the same has gained more than a million signatures.

Depp was recently fired from the next Fantastic Beasts movie. So his fans demanded the same fate for the Drive star. There is evidence against her as well that she engaged in violence against Depp during their marriage. Thus, the supporters of the actor feel she must be held accountable.

Meanwhile, it looks as if Warner Bros won’t remove the actress from the next Aquaman movie. No matter the reactions on social media, their approach seems different right now. One reason can be that audiences also liked Mera’s character in the first film two years ago.

Along with Jason Momoa, Amber Heard also received a lot of praise for her role. And the makers won’t think of changing anything, especially when it comes to the upcoming installment’s two main leads. And now that Amber Heard has officially announced her return, there’s no room for any more rumors.

Currently, Aquaman 2 is yet to get a release date.
