Amber Heard confirmed return as Mera in 'Aquaman 2', Twitter reacts

Amber Heard confirmed that she would return in Aquaman 2 in court documents she filed on Saturday.

Amber Heard is embroiled in a legal battle with ex Johnny Depp who sued her for libel. The pair finalized their divorce in 2017. Depp also sued The Sun for calling him “wife beater,” following Heard’s allegations that he was abusive and violent.

Despite the legal drama between the exes, Heard will return as Mera in the next Aquaman movie.

Amber Heard will reprise role in Aquaman 2

Amber Heard filed a petition asking the judge not to give in to Johnny Depp’s request to reschedule the trial because it clashed with his upcoming film Fantastic Beasts 3. Heard pointed out that the delay of the trial would affect her because she was also set to film Aquaman 2 in February, The Sun reported.

“The papers confirm for the first time that Ms Heard is still making Aquaman 2,” The Sun noted.

Twitter reacts to Amber’s return as Mera

Twitter users have mixed opinions after learning that Amber Heard is still part of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman movie.

Those who wanted Heard to be replaced were not happy. Some even said they wouldn’t watch the film.

“Well she should have been cast out of hollywood from the moment she was called out for her lies, which was about 4 years ago.. it took this f—-ng long for people to actually listen to the other side of the story. She should never have been cast as mera. Or the stand,” one wrote.

“@wbpictures I can tell you right now, if y’all continue with amber Heard as Mera in Aquaman 2, I’m pretty sure a good amount of people are going to boycott. I will never support an abuser,” another commented.

Meanwhile, Heard’s fans are happy after learning that she is still part of the film. For them, she played the role well, and she deserves to be still part of it.

“Say what you want about Amber Heard but you can’t deny that she was a great Mera,” Dominic Conner tweeted.

“I will still watch Aquaman 2. It would be so weird if Amber Heard wasn’t Mera,” another added.

Amber replacement rumors

There were rumors months ago that Amber Heard might be replaced as Mera. Her critics even started a petition calling out Warner Bros. to remove Heard from the movie and recast the role after an audio recording of Heard confessing that she hit Depp leaked.

The petition, which received almost 500,000 signatures, was not successful.

Meanwhile, some of the favorite replacements were Emilia Clarke and Blake Lively.
