Amber Heard ‘extremely afraid’ of Johnny Depp and ‘safety’ in previous testimony

Amber Heard said she was extremely afraid of her ex-husband Johnny Depp and her safety due to his drug and alcohol abuse.

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp married in 2015 and separated a year later. In 2017, the court finalized their divorce. However, their legal battle continues due to her allegations that he was abusive and violent.

Amber Heard feared for her safety

In 2016, Amber Heard detailed her fears concerning Johnny Depp’s drugs and alcohol abuse in papers she filed in Los Angeles County Court.

“Amber Heard ‘extremely afraid’ of Johnny Depp and ‘safety’ in previous testimony,” Heard said in the restraining order she filed per Variety.

The restraining order was temporarily granted against Depp for 100 days. In the document, Heard also alleged the Fantastic Beast star’s history of extreme anger, violent outburst, and substance use.

“His relationship with reality oscillates,” she added.

“Depending on his interaction with alcohol and drugs. Johnny has a long-held and widely-acknowledged public and private history of drug and alcohol abuse. He has a short fuse. He is often paranoid and his temper is exceptionally scary.”

Heard also claimed that Depp was screaming and threatening her. He also allegedly taunted the actress to stand up and left the condominium after “breaking nearly everything in his path.”

Depp’s libel case update

Johnny Depp sued The Sun for a report calling him “wife-beater” following Amber Heard’s allegations. Just recently, The Sun’s publisher NGN recently asked that the libel case be dismissed since Depp allegedly “deliberately withheld” evidence.

“There is a real risk that the claimant has failed to provide proper disclosure to the defendants and that the defendants cannot have a fair trial,” NGN’s lawyer Adam Wolandksi said, as per The New York Times.

He added that Depp’s drug issues should not be ignored because “it is the defendants’ case that drugs and alcohol had an influence on the claimant’s behavior towards Ms. Heard.”

Depp’s representative David Sherborne argued that he withheld the documents related to his drug use. He provided two points to support his stand.

“First, the claimant has already provided this document in the US libel proceedings,” Sherborne said, Evening Express reported.

“Secondly, the issue, in this case, is whether the defendants can prove that the claimant committed serious domestic violence and put Ms Heard in fear. It is not about whether Mr Depp asks for drugs,” he added.

Heard’s recording leaked

Earlier this year, an audio recording of Amber Heard admitting she hit Johnny Depp and started their fight leaked. She also taunted the actor to tell the public that he was the victim and see if many would believe him.

The audio recording changed the narrative of their split. Many shifted their support from Heard to Depp.

Me Too activist Amanda de Cadenet also dropped her support for Heard. She said she changed her mind after hearing Heard’s verbal attacks against Depp.

“When the first audio tape was released, and I heard Amber being verbally abusive to Johnny, I was horrified,” de Cadenet said in a statement.

She reached out to Heard’s lawyer Robbie Kaplan to talk to the Aquaman 2 star. She also expressed her disapproval of the way Heard talked to Depp.

“When we spoke, I told her I was appalled and shocked to hear how Amber was speaking to Johnny and that it was not ok with me.”
