Rumors started to swirl that Amber Heard might never be part of Aquaman 2. But a new claim revealed that Johnny Depp’s former wife would remain to be the key player of the movie’s second installment.
News about Amber Heard’s alleged firing from Aquaman 2 has been rampant. Allegedly, she can no longer reprise her role in the movie due to the allegations Johnny Depp made against her.
Mera can still be in Aquaman 2
According to Heroic Hollywood, the rumors about the 34-year-old being fired from the movie sequel is not valid. Despite the legal battle she’s facing with her ex-husband, she will remain to be an important part of the movie.
The publication’s owner and The Wrap film reporter, Umberto Gonzalez, put the rumors to rest by making a post on Twitter. “No, Amber Heard did not “get fired” off of AQUAMAN 2,” he said.

Although the model faces different accusations left and right, it looks like Warner Bros. has no plans to fire or even replace the role that she made famously. She is a central part of the film, making her character as Mera stood out in the 2018 Aquaman movie.
It may not come easy to recast a character that becomes to be a fan favorite. In fact, amid the ex-couple’s legal battle, Johnny Depp even managed to lead the movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The cry for Amber Heard’s exit
Anyhow, fans still cry for Amber Heard to leave Aquaman 2. As the movie sequel is yet to begin its production due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Warner Bros. still has plenty of time to decide about it. Anyhow, the legal issues that she is in put her career in jeopardy.
According to We Got This Covered, there are several claims that the actress has been fired from the movie. There are also rumors that Warner Bros. bans her from doing any future movies with their firm “indefinitely.” However, the studio remains mum about the issue.
Amber Heard may also have a hard time to secure any roles due to the defamation lawsuit she’s facing. Now that the courts have rejected her appeal, she is, allegedly, being “flat out rejected.”
In addition, a fan launched an online petition on Change.org to ask for signatures to fire Amber Heard from Aquaman 2. It aims to get 500,000 signs, and it’s nearing the target with over 430,000 signatures. It remains to be a big mystery what will happen from here. So, fans should wait for Warner Bros.’s official announcement about it.
