James Gunn just broke those fans’ hearts who were expecting to see an adult Groot once again. The director said that it wouldn’t happen.
Everyone knows that the original Groot is dead. Currently, there is just the new teenage version of him in the present timeline. And stressing the same fact, James Gunn recently answered over the possibility of his adult self appearing again.
He expressed his views and thoughts in the recent Q&A session with his fans.
Future of Groot in “Guardians of the Galaxy”
During his session on social media, James Gunn answered a question about an adult Groot’s chances in the coming movies.
“Sadly, that original Groot is no longer with us,” he wrote.
“So unless there is a prequel of some type, we won’t see him again.”
That means there might be a chance of a prequel if it happens somewhere in the future. Only then will the fans be able to see a grown-up version of the speaking tree.
Gunn then also shared vital details on the third part of Guardians of the Galaxy. According to him, the principal photography will begin later this year. GOTG 3 star Dave Bautista also revealed this information previously.
Die-hard followers of the Guardians can watch their first two parts on the Disney+ streaming service.
Upcoming MCU titles
Meanwhile, there is a lot of new content arriving in the cinematic superhero franchise in the coming months. And the release cycle has already begun with WandaVision. The TV series premiered last month amid rave reviews. It will end its first season next month.
The next title to arrive after the Elizabeth Olsen-Paul Bettany show is Falcon and the Winter Soldier. It will feature Anthony Mackie and Sebastian, reprising their iconic roles of Sam and Bucky.
There’s a lot of anticipation for upcoming films like Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and Eternals when it comes to movies. If the COVID-19 situation somehow remains normal, they can eventually get a traditional, theatrical launch.
Moving further, there will be multiple new Marvel shows coming on the Disney+ service. Some of the most-awaited among them are Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, Loki, Hawkeye, Secret Invasion, She-Hulk, and a Wakanda-based series.
Although Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was also supposed to come out along with the above-mentioned titles, its production got delayed. The threequel will bring back famous characters on the big screen, namely Peter Quill, Rocket, Nebula, Gamora, Groot, Drax, and Mantis.
