Android 10 update rollout for the Redmi Note 8 had already started. However, the discovery of “some unnamed bugs” has now led to its suspension. The company stated that users can still download the software, but facing their own risk.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, a smartphone released in 2019 but still in demand and kicking this year, is ready to have its Android 10 update.
The Android 10 update for the Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 8 appears to be on the way to making a significant impact on all users.
Android 10 update for Redmi Note 8 is on its way
A few days ago, Xiaomi sent out an initial MIUI 12 beta build to the Redmi Note 8 particularly in China, and it seems the update will enter the beta stage very soon, with Xiaomi Firmware Updater citing a two-week wait time.
According to Notebook Check, China’s beta stable release is a lot different from a global stable version. The update would first have to be entirely released in China, then make its way over to the rest of the world in beta form. It typically takes anywhere from a week to a month for an update to go from China’s beta stable to global stability. With that said, Redmi Note 8 owners in different countries should have the Android 10-based MIUI 12 update on their hands by late July or early August.
However, rumors suspect that the update to Android 10 doesn’t take the Redmi 8 up to MIUI 12. There’s probably going to be a subsequent release for that user interface. So it’s still on MIUI 11, version 11.0.1.0 QCNCNXM to be precise.
Other Xiaomi Phones will have an update too
Xiaomi isn’t necessarily known for providing timely Android updates. The company’s flagships have received at least two major Android versions in the past few years. However, most mid-range and budget offerings from Xiaomi usually only receive one major Android update and few major MIUI versions.
While Xiaomi is very busy with updates to the new MIUI 12 at this point, the company is also still working on bringing some of its older phones up to Android 10. A report by AdimorahBlog stating that the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi Note 8, are now receiving an MIUI 12 beta update as per Xiaomi Firmware Updater confirms.
The two smartphones are getting the OTA with the build number “MIUI 12.20.7.3”. This scenario isn’t the first MIUI 12 update the Redmi Note 8 is receiving; as it got an update with the build number “MIUI 12.20.6.18” about two weeks ago. The interface had a major bug, as reported, so the update was pulled out. Logic dictates that this new update arrives without a glitch as mentioned earlier.
