Angelina Jolie commented on her separation from Brad Pitt in a recent interview. According to the Maleficent star, she did it because it was necessary for her family’s wellbeing.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were perfect together. Their romance started on-screen when they starred in the movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith. They took their relationship from reel to real, but it only lasted for a little over a decade.
In 2016, Pitt and Jolie separated. Their split broke their fans’ hearts, who thought they were meant to be together forever.

Angelina Jolie did an interview with Vogue, where she talked about adopted kids and her children. During the interview, she briefly touched the subject of her separation from Brad Pitt.
Jolie was asked how she sustained a healthy environment for her children after she decided to separate from their dad.
“I separated for the wellbeing of my family. It was the right decision. I continue to focus on their healing,” Jolie said.
“Some have taken advantage of my silence, and the children see lies about themselves in the media, but I remind them that they know their own truth and their own minds. In fact, they are six very brave, very strong young people.”
Jolie speaks about adoption from two countries at war
Angelina Jolie has three adopted children, Maddox, Pax, and Zahara. She adopted Maddox from Cambodia in 2002. Meanwhile, she adopted Pax, then 3-years-old, from Vietnam in 2007.
Vietnam and Cambodia were once at war. Jolie admitted that she didn’t have any plans to get a baby from Vietnam because she was aware of the two countries’ history, and she didn’t want to make it difficult for her eldest son.
“I did originally think not to adopt from Vietnam because Mad was Cambodian and the two countries have a complex history,” Jolie shared.
The Eternal star confessed that she saw a photo of a Vietnamese fighter held captive by Americans. It made her change her mind and want to focus on “a future were we were all family.”

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were embroiled in a legal battle after their separation. Aside from their divorce, the exes were fighting over their children’s custody.
However, things have since improved for the couple. The children are still living with their mom, Jolie, but they regularly see their dad, Pitt.
“Brad and Angelina have come a long way,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.
“To the surprise of many of their closest friends, their communication has improved tremendously and they’re both dedicated to co-parenting. Their kids have a custody schedule and that’s made a huge difference for the whole family.”
