Angelina Jolie is reportedly in talks to star in her next project, Every Note Played, with James Bond villain Christoph Waltz.
The film is based on a novel from Lisa Genova about a famous concert pianist, played by Waltz, who learns of his life-changing disease. His ex-wife, played by Angelina Jolie, moves back home to care for him as he works on his final opus and the problems in his relationships.
According to Variety, Michael Sucsy is on board the project as the director while Monet Clayton is adapting the screenplay with co-writer David Mandell. Genova’s previous novel, Still Alice, became a 2014 film that won Julianne Moore her first Oscar for Best Actress. Will Jolie likely also win her first acting plum with Every Note Played?
This will be Jolie’s next project after Marvel’s Eternals, where she will play the celestial being Thena. The superhero film has an all-star cast that includes Richard Madden, Kit Harrington, Kumail Nanjiani and Salma Hayek.
Excited to be part of the MCU
Asked why she agreed to be in a superhero movie, Jolie expressed that she has followed the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) from the beginning. She thinks that Marvel boss Kevin Feige is a genius so the decision to join the MCU wasn’t difficult.
The actress also said that she’s eager to be part of the Marvel family, after joking that she’s not getting any offers for Star Wars. She also praised Eternals director Chloe Zhao for her strong vision. Most of all, Jolie wanted to do the superhero flick because of its cast.
“I love the diversity of the cast. I think that this is going to bring something special and different,” Angelina Jolie told MTV News.
Next movie: Come Away
But prior to working on Eternals, Jolie finished filming Come Away, a fantasy drama that brings a unique perspective on the stories of Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. It follows two siblings — Peter and Alice — who have make-believe playtimes in their English countryside home.
Peter then finds a family heirloom that he tries to sell to a sinister owner of a pawnshop in London. While in the city, the siblings go on an adventure that leads Alice to seek refuge within a rabbit hole, while Peter leaves permanently for a magical realm where becomes the Lost Boys leader.
The movie will be in theaters by Nov. 13. Joining Angeline Jolie in this fantasy is David Oyelowo, Michael Caine, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and newcomers Jordan A. Nash and Keira Chansa.
