Angelina Jolie revelation: Fans want her to direct ‘Captain Marvel 2’

Angelina Jolie is the latest big star who joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the movie The Eternals. With that, will she helm Captain Marvel 2, too?

MCU fans seem to be clamoring for Angelina Jolie to direct Captain Marvel 2. She’s believed to be one of the most significant acquisitions of the studio. So, the franchise’s followers think she’s the ideal candidate to do the job.

Angelina’s credits to direct a superhero movie

Brad Pitt’s former wife has been in the business for a long while – even long before those superhero movie series emerged. She has a lot of critically and commercially successful projects, from acting to directing.

So far, she’s directed the 2011 Bosnian war movie, In the Land of Blood and Honey. She is also behind the success of another 2014 war drama, Unbroken.

In 2015, Angelina Jolie also directed and starred her last movie with Brad Pitt, the romantic drama By the Sea. After two years, she helmed the Cambodian-American biographical historical thriller First They Killed My Father for Netflix.

According to We Got This Covered, despite the films’ different genres, it all got positive and best reviews. But, it can’t be denied that none of these films signifies that she’s ready for a high-budget, action sci-fi movie like Captain Marvel 2.

It may be too early for Angelina Jolie to do a $200-million comic book sequel when she has to start working for it after doing The Eternals.

Other female directors who can helm Captain Marvel 2

Despite that, fans still think that she’s the best director to work on Captain Marvel 2

With her inclusion in The Eternals, the filmmaker just began her working relationship with Marvel. This film will also mark her fourth live-action movie in a decade; two of those are under Disney – the Maleficent franchise.

Hence, fans on Reddit are convinced that she’ll be the perfect director for the role. Anyhow, Cheat Sheet noted that there are many other women directors out there who can do the work.

Marvel surely has a long list of directors who can do the job. There’s Deborah Chow, who helmed some episodes of The Mandalorian, which were all well-received. The filmmaker Olivia Wilde can also show her directing prowess after the success of Booksmart.

If fans think that they seem to be new directors in this field, they can choose a more experienced one. Kathryn Bigelow is the most high-profile female filmmaker in Hollywood, winning Oscar’s best director. However, by the looks of it, fans still want Angelina Jolie for Captain Marvel 2.
