Angelina Jolie made a shocking confession about her relationship with Brad Pitt years before their divorce.
In 2008, Angelina Jolie spoke with Vanity Fair about her marriage to the Ad Astra actor. She said that after her previous divorce, Jolie vowed to never marry a fellow actor. However, this changed the minute she met Pitt.
“After my last divorce, I said I was absolutely going to marry somebody in another field, an aid worker, or something. Then I met Brad, everything I wasn’t looking for, but the best man, the best father I could possibly wish for, you know? I don’t see him as an actor. I see him very much as a dad, as somebody who loves travel and architecture more than being in movies,” Jolie said.
Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt’s common passion brought them closer to each other
The Maleficent: Mistress of Evil star also revealed the one thing that brought her and Pitt closer to each other early on.
“I found him to be very aware of the world, very curious, very compassionate. In his private way, he had been doing a lot. When we met, we realized our common goals were that we both wanted to be involved in the world and see what we could do. We have similar interests but different approaches. He’s more involved in rebuilding New Orleans, environmental issues, green sustainability. I am more refugees. But when it comes to common goals—orphans, orphans’ rights, children—we support each other. It brings us together and makes our relationship work,” she said.
Brangelina divorce
Jolie announced her divorce from Pitt eight years after the interview. And the actress’s tone changed during some of the interviews she had thereafter.
Last year, Jolie told Madame Figaro that her decision to separate from Pitt was a complicated moment. But she knew that it was the end for them because Jolie couldn’t recognize herself anymore.
The Unbroken director said that she lost herself a bit during the time that her marriage was ending. And she also felt smaller and insignificant even though other people didn’t realize that this was happening.
“I felt a deep and genuine sadness, I was hurt,” she said.
A year later, Angelina Jolie seemed more at peace with her decision to separate from Pitt. While speaking with Vogue India, she said that the separation was the right thing to do for the well-being of her family.
