Angelina Jolie is, reportedly, not trying to delay her divorce proceedings against Brad Pitt.
While speaking with Us Weekly, Jolie’s lawyer, Samantha Bley DeJean, denied Pitt’s team’s accusations. She also said that Angelina Jolie just wants a fair trial; that’s why she’s requesting for Judge John W. Ouderkirk to be removed from the case.
“All my client is asking for is a fair trial based on facts, with no special favors extended to either side. The only way litigants can trust the process is for everyone involved to ensure that there are transparency and impartiality,” the lawyer said.
Angelina Jolie has doubts about the judge in her divorce case
Jolie also, reportedly, thinks that Ouderkirk is biased in Pitt’s favor due to his ongoing connections with Neama Rehmani, the president of West Coast Trial Lawyers.
“Unfortunately, the individuals hurt most by Jolie’s transparently tactical gambit are the parties’ own children, who continue to be deprived of a final resolution,” Pitt’s team fired back.
Brad Pitt regularly visited his kids before Angelina Jolie feud
Before the exes’ recent exchanges through their lawyers, Pitt was photographed visiting Jolie’s home twice on board his motorcycle. The Ad Astra actor visited his kids at Jolie’s home because there are still travel restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Back then, reports claimed Pitt and Jolie were in a much better place in their relationship. After all, the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actor was able to go to his ex-wife’s house.
However, it is unclear if Jolie and Pitt also talked to each other during the latter’s visits. It is possible that Pitt simply spent time with his children.
Court, divorce, custody battles slowed down by COVID
A source told Us Weekly that Jolie and Pitt’s divorce settlement was also dragging along because the pandemic slowed everything down.
“Brad is seeing the kids. But everything involved in their process of resolving legal matters between Angelina and Brad, including the courts, is slowed down because of COVID. With the pandemic, it has been hard for everyone, including them. The legal process is slowed because of that. They are continuing regular visits. But there has not been a lot of progress in terms of resolving anything,” the source said.
Angelina Jolie and Pitt announced their split in 2016. Years later, a source told People that they have been going to family therapy to help mend their broken relationship.
