Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt did not have an amicable breakup. In fact, the Maleficent star even filed for sole custody for their six children. However, they are getting better at co-parenting.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt want the best for their six children even after they parted ways in 2016. So, the two are doing their best to give their kids a complete family even if they are no longer together.
After several years, the exes have learned to co-parent effectively. According to a family lawyer, Jolie and Pitt were both cooperative.
“It seems to show they are being far more cooperative and reaching agreements compared to the beginning of the divorce,” LA family law attorney Kelly Chang Rickert told Daily Mail.
In April, Jolie, a TIME contributing editor and special envoy of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) spoke with TIME Editor-in-Chief Edward Felsenthal.
During their conversation, she gave a brief update about her and the kids amid the coronavirus lockdown.
“We’re all locked in,” Jolie said “We’re doing all right.”
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were embroiled in a bitter child custody battle after their split. Jolie wanted sole physical custody while Pitt wanted 50/50 physical custody.
Their feud was so bad at the time that Pitt was investigated for possible child abuse after losing his temper in front of some of his kids. David T. Piscara, California Family Law Attorney criticized Jolie’s move calling it “unreasonable.”
“She is being very unreasonable. As far as we’re concerned, Brad is a good father, he cares about his children, so there should be no reason she should receive sole custody,” Piscara told HollywoodLife.com.
The Ad Astra actor was later cleared of the allegations.
In 2018, the two eventually reached an agreement over the custody of their children, two years after their separation. However, the lawyer did not share the details of how the custody would be divided.
Despite the lack of details, one thing is certain, the kids get to spend some time with both of their parents.
