Angelina Jolie worried 'something untoward' is happening in Brad Pitt divorce

Angelina Jolie wants to disqualify the judge overseeing her divorce from Brad Pitt because she is concerned ‘something untoward’ is happening in their legal case.

Angelina Jolie wants to fire the judge in her divorce case with ex Brad Pitt because of his connection with his lawyers. The Maleficent star was concerned that something inappropriate was happening with regards to their divorce case.

Angelina Jolie concerned ‘something untoward’ is happening

Angelina Jolie filed to remove Judge John W. Ouderkirk from her divorce case from Brad Pitt. The Eternal actress pointed out Ouderkirk’s shortcoming in revealing his business relationship with Pitt’s lawyers.

“No one thought to let [Jolie] know. Instead, it was a little secret between Judge Ouderkirk and [Pitt’s] counsel,” Jolie’s filing stated per Page Six.

“As is often true, the cover-up (or perceived cover-up) drives home the concern that something untoward is happening.”

Due to Ouderkirk’s failure to disclose his association to Pitt’s attorneys, Jolie wanted him out of the case.

“Disqualification is the required remedy for the private judge’s failure to disclose ongoing financial and professional relationships with respondent’s counsel which create at least a doubt about impartiality,” Jolie’s legal counsel said.

Jolie wants to delay the legal process

Another insider claimed that Angelina Jolie wanted a new judge because the odds were not in her favor. The actress reportedly wanted more child support. However, she is not likely to get it.

“Jolie is basically trying to fire the private judge overseeing their divorce case,” the source told  Page Six.

“She has every right to do this, but if she thought she was in a good place in this legal proceeding, she wouldn’t need to do it. This is a classic case of someone expecting a bad decision trying to delay the process by asking for a new referee.”

The same insider also questioned Jolie’s move, even calling it “unusual.” The tipster said Pitt wanted to maintain the same judge to ensure that their private information won’t leak to people.

Brad Pitt’s ex doesn’t want to delay the process

However, another insider refuted the claim. According to the insider, just like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie wants the process to be over.

“Angelina isn’t trying to delay this process. In fact, the court papers state that she wants to get this issue with the judge resolved so there are no further delays [in deciding custody and financial issues like child support],” the source told Page Six.

Also, she decided to fire the judge because she wants a fair trial.

“As is set forth in the filing, all my client is asking for is a fair trial based on facts, with no special favors extended to either side,” Jolie’s attorney Samantha Bley DeJean said in an email to The Associated Press as quoted by Houston Chronicle.
