There’s a lot to do in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but players are limited by time. Due to the restrictions, a lot of players resort to time-traveling, but not everyone is a fan of this trick.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, time-traveling is a trick that can speed up things in the game. It’s looked down upon by a lot of players in the community, but there are many others that don’t mind using the trick. Here’s everything there is to know about it.
What is time-traveling, and how is it done?
As the name suggests, time-traveling is when players move forward the clock and date on their Nintendo Switch to force their progress in the game to speed up as well. Players do this for a number of reasons, the most popular of which is to get buildings finished as early as possible.
Whenever a building is being constructed or moved in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players have to wait an entire day before the job gets done. This becomes a problem as only one building can be built or moved daily. Those who are working on their island will have to wait long before they can get everything done.
Time-traveling in this version of Animal Crossing can also refresh the resources in a player’s island. Players use this trick to get a ton of Bells, resources, and so much more.
What it can’t do, however, is get players ahead to a point where they access in-game events before anyone else.
Why it shouldn’t be done
Time-traveling is frowned upon by the Animal Crossing community as it simply ruins the experience and the point of the game. Beyond that, there are downsides to using the trick as well.
For starters, players who have stocked up on turnips while time traveling will be putting their investments to waste. Upon time traveling, the turnips will rot instantly. Players will also get cockroaches in their house if they time travel.
Perhaps the worst consequence of time-traveling in the game is that the villagers of the players might feel neglected and just leave the island entirely. This is a common consequence for those who are time-traveling usually.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons may be light and casual, but it does take time to get things done. Players that want to resort to time-traveling shouldn’t be judged to quickly as their actions won’t affect others who are playing the game as well.
