Winter is coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons which will come in the form of a new update on Nov. 19, 2020. It will bring in new features in order to celebrate this year’s coldest season—the first for the game as well.
The first event to arrive along with the update is the Turkey Day, New Horizons’ version of the Thanksgiving. The occasion will roll out a week after the Winter update on Nov. 26.
Winter festivities
Like the true-to-life occasion it mimics, the Turkey Day is all about feasting. Taking center stage for the event is the first-class Chef who will be in charge of the cooking. Players will be engaging with this NPC with ingredient-collecting tasks, all the while receiving gifts for the effort.
Come Dec. 1 and a new event will take place, called Toy Day. Unlike the previous event that precedes it, this secondary occasion will last for much of the month, until Dec. 25, specifically.
Similar to any other event that graced the game, Toy Day is all about making new things, exclusive from the goings-on. This means being able to add more items into the collection, including unique clothing.
Players who are indeed into accumulating material wealth with New Horizons would want to pay off their debt to Tom Nook. The benefit is more than just about roaming the island debt-free, but also the idea of expanding storage by being so. It’s a recent feature that many would want to take advantage of, resulting to a storage space increase to 2400.
Speaking of amassing anything the game has to offer; the update will also see the addition of new hairstyles and reactions. That’s equivalent to donning a new look and being able to express oneself uniquely.
Technically a season that will transcend to 2021, the Winter update, however, is made for celebration until Jan. 1. Beginning Dec. 26, therefore, players would be able to craft new stuff that befits the upcoming New Year.
Recent additions
Meanwhile, players can now expect to see an upgrade to their smartphones, preceding the update. More than just a change of looks, this new device introduces two major features to the game.

One of the two features will, for the first time, allow for the transfer of the player’s island to a different system. This means that players can now experience their island in a different Switch system, a feature that was previous impossible.
Another feature, on the other hand, allows for the transition of resident data or the player’s island inhabitants.
