Anne Heche has nothing but good things to say about her ex-girlfriend, Ellen DeGeneres.
Ahead of the premiere of Dancing With the Stars, Anne Heche talked about her relationship with the Ellen Show host.
“When I met Ellen, she was beaming light. There was nothing that could have shone brighter than who she was in the center of that room. I’ll never forget. Our time was a beautiful part of my life and one that I wear with honor. I was a part of a revolution that created social change, and I could not have done that without falling in love with her,” she said.
Ellen DeGeneres, Anne Heche fired from their jobs after they confirmed their relationship
But years ago, Heche revealed that her relationship with DeGeneres jeopardized her career. Shortly after the comedian came out as gay, she and Heche attended the premiere of Volcano together.
While speaking on the Irish Goodbye podcast, Heche said that she was told that she will be fired from an upcoming movie because of their relationship. The actress just signed up for Six Days, Seven Nights alongside Harrison Ford.
“I took Ellen, we were told that my contract for Fox would be extinguished and I would be fired. And that the movie that I had just met Harrison Ford on wouldn’t hire me. And we went to the premiere – these are the stories that I know people don’t know,” she said.
Anne Heche also revealed that she people at the Volcano premiere asked her to leave DeGeneres in the car. They were also informed that they couldn’t take photos together.
After the premiere, Heche and DeGeneres were fired from their respective jobs.
Luckily for Heche, she received Ford’s support. The actor, reportedly, phoned Heche and encouraged her to make the best movie they could ever make together.
Heche gushes over Ellen DeGeneres
Three years after Heche and DeGeneres confirmed their relationship, they decided to call it quits. Before their highly-publicized breakup, Heche also gushed over her then-girlfriend.
“I was drawn to her; she was drawn to me. I was inside out, I was upside down, everything was complete. Nobody else mattered,” she said.
The actress also responded to the rumors that she and DeGeneres made their relationship public as a publicity stunt.
“Sure, everyone who wants a good career comes out and says they’re gay. You step right up the ladder when you do that,” Anne Heche said sarcastically.
