With the release window of PlayStation 5 already nearing, there seems to be a rife in speculation about a possible event in August.
Both next-gen consoles, the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, are strongly rumored right now about bringing another event this August.
The first PS5 State of Play was held last June, with Sony finally unveiling the official console design and a few of the games that are set debut alongside it.
When is the next State of Play?
Among all the dates, August 6 is the heavily rumored, per Dexerto. That’s roughly a week from now.
Tom Philipps of Eurogamer was ere one of the first few who pitched the possible State of Play event. Although he didn’t mention a specific date.
Looking at the next couple months, July/August is currently a tasty Microsoft/Sony announcement sandwich

What should we expect in the next State of Play?
As Video Games Chronicles noted about the news on Xbox also set to do an event this August, this a traditional timeline for the gaming giants to introduce pricing and pre-order.
The rumors about the PlayStation 5 have been wild lately. It started with Amazon accidentally going live with PS5 pre-order. Nevertheless, Sony has since clarified that issue.
After that, the PS5 pre-order limit emerged online, after data miners found the website’s source code. Here’s to hoping that this will be included in the August event, as the same is expected of for the possible Xbox event as well.
PlayStation Universe‘s recent report also chimes in on the idea that Sony will likely drop the aforementioned details this August.
There’s also the mention of backward compatibility for the PlayStation 5, along with the possible discussion about the UI PlayStation Activities, the PS Plus, and the PS Now.

Aside from that, Dexerto further discussed that Serrano informed in a follow-up tweet, that the August event is set to showcase more incoming games, both for the PS5 and the PS4, coming from the PlayStation Studios and other third-party developers.
Among all the titles to be possibly mentioned next month, the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is likely one of the few that will pique the interest of the many. There were hints that the highly-speculated title might be dropped during the June event, but it was to no avail.
Should the August 6 be proven to be true, with only a few days left, we might be hearing from Sony real soon.
