The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie drops new details about the miniseries. And it’s something fans should be excited about.
Anthony Mackie is set to reprise his role as Sam Wilson or Falcon in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series.
It’s going to be available for streaming on Disney Plus soon. And though it has no confirmed release date yet, avid fans of the Marvel Comics Universe continue to look forward to it.
The spinoff series was originally scheduled for release in August this year. But due to the pandemic, they had to shut down production. Now, all fans can do is wait for updates.
Fortunately, they are not left in the dark as Mackie shared tidbits of details about the series.
The budget constraints
Mackie, who debuted as the US Air force pararescue airman in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, spoke in an interview with Daveed Diggs for Variety’s Actors on Actors issue.
He revealed to the audience that working on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series was like filming a Marvel Studios movie.

He said that it felt similar to Marvel films made in the past but with one major difference, which was the budget.
“We were in Europe, and everything got crazy in Europe first,” Mackie said. “So they shut us down two weeks before the U.S. shutdown. It was really amazing just because I feel like we’re the first Marvel show or movie that had budget constraints.”
He also shared what his experience with Marvel has always been.
“And that was always my [experience], ‘It’s Marvel, we could shoot forever.’ And they’re like, ‘Nah.’ So it was a very different experience from the rest of the movies. But at the same time, it was a lot of fun.”
The format and feel of the series
The 8 Mile actor made sure not to go into too much detail while discussing the upcoming superhero series.
But he did open up about the format and the kind of feel that fans can expect once it hits the small screen.
Careful not to divulge too much, Mackie said that the series would feel like a “six or eight-hour movie.” He also shared how they were shooting it exactly like a movie.
“Everybody who had worked on TV before was like, ‘I’ve never worked on a TV show like this,” he said.
So what can fans expect with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series? It’s going to be a smaller MCU production but with a grand-scale feel and film-like format. Fans should stay tuned for more updates.
