‘Apex Legends’ brings back Duos game mode permanently

Apex Legends had an update last year that added a ‘duos’ game mode. The mode has been popping on and off since then. But this time, the award-winning battle-royale will have the well-requested game mode permanently next week upon the arrival of its latest update.

Respawn announced the addition of the game mode during its introduction of the new limited-time lore event called ‘Old Ways.’ The update will arrive on April 7, and the event will run until April 21.

Why is Duos so popular?

During the first time that Apex has introduced Duos, the player base applauded Respawn for the move. The main reason is the variety that it brings to the game, as well as the chance to play with a solo buddy without worrying if the third random player communicates well.

The problem with randoms users is in the term itself. Apex randoms are sometimes the cause of one team’s failure due to the lack of proper communication. However, there sometimes randoms can carry a team as well.

Respawn’s battle royale has been launched with a trio system in mind. The characters are created to fit into a well-oiled killing trio. The mechanic adds to the fun as squads need to decide which character synergizes well with another. But as time went by, the trio system became stale, thus the player’s clamor for a new game mode.

The developer’s idea is fine. There is no doubt about it, but adding the option for duos, just makes the game better. It gives the freedom for the player to have fun the way it wants to.

The solos game mode was added on a limited time months before, and it garnered great feedback as well. Like duos, it might be added to the game permanently shortly too.

Map rotation coming in

Map rotation was recently added to the rank mode of Apex Legends. The Season 4 ranking was split into two – the first half was played on the larger World’s Edge map, while the current ranking system is played on the classic King’s Canyon.

There is no clear instruction on how the map rotation works this time. It can either be played on rank mode only or duos exclusive. It might also be played on the casual game mode.

Bloodhound’s time to shine

The ‘Old Ways Lore’ event will have a new town takeover game mode. The game mode was teased a few days ago after a prowler, a Titanfall dinosaur-like creature was found on the World’s Edge map. Alongside the announcement, an animated short film was released on the backstory of the character Bloodhound.

According to Respawn’s press release, “Dive into Bloodhound’s Trials, where you and your squad battle against a hoard of prowlers and claim high-tier loot as your reward. But beware of the most dangerous game: fellow Legends who want to scavenge those goods for themselves. In moments of quiet, don’t forget to explore the enclosure, especially with a certain hunter at your side.”

This game mode is a ‘man vs beasts vs man’ kind of event and will surely bring an action-packed challenge to the player base.

Apex Legends recently won the Best Multiplayer on the 2020 BAFTA Game Awards.
