Over a year since its launch, there’s no doubt that Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends is one of the top battle royales out there. That’s saying a lot considering how the game came in late into the genre.
Apex Legends is undoubtedly one of Respawn Entertainment’s most successful games. Even the developers know this, which is why they are working towards more content for the game. In fact, they are already looking years ahead into what kind of content will come to the game.
Planning ahead
In an interview with GamesRadar, game director Chad Grenier and design director Jason McCord talks about what they have planned for the game. Since launching last year, the game has already added four new weapons, five new weapons, a new map, and tons of skins. So, what’s ahead for the games?
For the game’s upcoming Switch port, the developers understand that there might be some troubles when porting the shooter into the console. As evident by Overwatch on the Switch, it will be a big challenge. In this regard, the developer is working on it so that the game feels and plays as much as its other counterparts.
When it comes to new content, Grenier had this to say: “We always have a ton of exciting stuff in the works. We do internal play tests every day, and we’re testing new legends, map changes, and content all the way up through to season 12 now. So you know, there’s a lot of really cool stuff in the works, but I obviously can’t talk about the details!”
Simply put, Apex Legends is going to have a steady stream of content in the future.
What about next gen?
Talking about the PS5 and Xbox Series X, Grenier and McCord didn’t confirm that the game will be ported immediately, but it’s apparent that they have plans to do so eventually.
They say that for now, they are focusing on improving the quality of cross-play for the consoles that the game is already available on. When the new-gen versions do arrive, we’ll likely be having cross-play support for those as well.
Apex Legends is going to be supported by Respawn Entertainment for the years to come. It’ll be exciting to see the new heroes will meet in the future. The fifth season is only a few weeks long now, so players can expect to see the new teases for the next hero soon.
