Wraith is always on the top when it comes to Apex Legends pick rate. The small legend has a tactical and a utility that benefits any team composition.
Apex Legends, especially in the competitive scene, benefits from legends that can move a team from one place to another. That is the main role that Wraith fills in any lineup.
Her Ultimate creates a portal that transports any player to a different place without taking any damage. The tactical “Into the Void” allows her to move quickly while preventing any incoming damage.
Despite her powerful skillset, Respawn decided to nerf a different aspect of her.
No more “Naruto” run
Respawn developers are fans of the anime Naruto as seen on some elements in-game. Revenant, for instance, uses the same summoning hand movements from the anime to create his Totem.
Wraith’s running animation is similar to how Naruto characters run. She goes head down with arms on the side.
However, this animation gives her an advantage over other legends. She currently has a small hitbox and with her running lower, it makes it even harder for enemies to hit.
That being said, the developers decided to nerf her running animation. They made her run more upright to expose more of her body.
“We’re introducing a new set of sprint animations for Wraith. These are much more upright and expose a larger area of her body to gunfire,” said Respawn.
“Now we know her old sprint was iconic and we hate to see it go as well, but we believe this is the best way by far of bringing her in line without having to hit her abilities again,” the developers added.
That small nerf may or may not improve her pick rate in Apex Legends. It was fun seeing the famous Naruto run in the game though.
