The 13-inch MacBook Pro 2020 had just gotten a massive upgrade this year, featuring a boost in power and storage as well as getting a brand new keyboard.
It’s about time Apple releases a 13-inch MacBook Pro 2020 update. For the last few months, Apple has given much focus on the 15-inch (now 16-inch) MacBook Pro, the MacBook Air, and handsets like the iPhone SE as well as the iPad Pro.
Because of this, some tech enthusiasts feel as though the 13-inch is being left out. Thankfully, that doesn’t seem to be the case as Apple has finally launched the new and improved 13-inch MacBook Pro 2020.
Same design, better performance
Appearance-wise, Apple didn’t really change anything in the 13-inch MacBook Pro’s design. However, what they can promise are better specifications and a whole new keyboard.
Rumors claimed earlier that the 13-inch MacBook Pro would finally get a size upgrade, particularly a 14-inch display. But Apple proved that rumor wrong as they chose to stick with the 13-inch display that users had grown to love.
New Magic Keyboard with Touch Bar and Touch ID
MacBook users had long been complaining of the old Butterfly keyboard’s dysfunctional qualities. With the MacBook Air and the 16-inch MacBook Pro both getting the new Magic Keyboard, it only makes sense for the 13-inch to have one as well.
Apple notes that the Magic Keyboard promotes comfort and stability with its redesigned scissor mechanism, having only 1 millimeter of key travel.
Among other features of the Magic Keyboard is the all-familiar Touch ID, Touch Bar, an inverted “T” arrow key arrangement, and even a physical escape key.
Storage and Memory Boost
Apple says they’ve upgraded the storage aspect of the 13-inch MacBook Pro. With the new update, the storage for these devices will be double than before. The standard storage for the new generation of 13-inch MacBook Pros will now start at 256GB. Storage options are now up to one terabyte for regular customers.
Pro users, however, will be able to get as high as four terabytes in storage.
Memory had also received a massive upgrade. The new 13-inch MacBook Pro now has a standard of 16GB of faster 3733MHz memory. But users who truly want to take it up a notch can go for the 32GB option, which doubles the performance of the 13-inch MacBook Pro.
New Processors
The 13-inch MacBook Pro will include new Intel 10th generation processor options. However, this only comes with the premium models, depending on price. The lower-cost models would still keep their 8th generation Intel processors.
13-inch MacBook Pro 2020 price
The price depends much on the upgrades made on the 13-inch MacBook Pro 2020. The models with the 8th generation are priced at $1,299 (256GB) and $1,499 (512GB). The premium models, on the other hand, cost $1,799 (512GB) and $1,999 (1TB), coming with the new Intel 10th generation processors.
