It has been a while since Apple last updated its all-in-one computers. This time, the 27-inch Apple iMac is getting a refreshed processor. The new models will be rocking 10th Generation Intel Comet Lake processors.
Besides the processor update, Apple is revamping the web camera, speakers, and microphone. The company is ditching the old 720p resolution camera for a full HD sensor. It might be a little late to the party, but its better than sticking to the old sensor.
According to Apple, the new iMacs will have a 10-core processor option with up to 5.0GHz turbo boost. The company claims that it is capable of putting up to a 65% increase in performance.
The previous generation computers are running 8-core processors. The new Apple iMac is expected to handle heavier tasks on different software.
Logic Pro X, for example, may now handle up to 65% more plugins. Final Cut Pro X render times for 8K ProRes is cut by up to 40%.
That is just a glimpse of what these new models can do.
Besides the new processor, the screen gets an upgrade as well. Apple has introduced the nano-texture glass option on this iMac.
This provides better view options on different lighting conditions. It is the ideal screen for users who work under an inconsistent light.
With that being said, the new Apple iMac is still pricey. It starts at US$1,799[AU$2,499.33]. The smaller 21.5-inch iMac starts at $1,099. Both models start shipping next week.
