Apple iPhone 12 gets ready for production in July

Share

Apple’s iPhone 12 series’ leaks are now in full gear.

According to industry sources, Apple’s flagship iPhone 12 lineup will start production later than the usual schedule in July.

Multiple reports claim that Apple will follow the same launch window as with the iPhone X for the upcoming iPhone series. Sources within the manufacturing supply chain heavily hint that production for the latest iPhone iteration will be starting soon.

Business as usual, but…

In previous years, Apple started the production of its flagship models between May and June. A report in the Wall Street Journal suggests that the 2020 iteration of the iPhone may be delayed, and reports claim it to happen later in July. However, we may still see Apple unveil the new iPhone in September but won’t be out until later, similar to its predecessors.

The delay in production and the eventual announcement is said to be expected due to the impact of the coronavirus.

Apple iPhone 12 comes in four options

Leaks suggest that the 12th-generation iPhone series will come in 4 variants, and have been labeled as such:

iPhone 12

iPhone 12 Max

iPhone 12 Pro

iPhone 12 Pro Max

According to the leaks, the upcoming iPhone will come in a 5.4-inch screen, the smallest iPhone Apple has released since the 4.7-inch iPhone SE. The 12 Max and the 12 Pro will come in 6.1-inch screens, and the 12 Pro Max is said to come in a 6.7-inch display.

It is also heavily rumored that its design is set to be very different from previous versions. The backside of all 4 models is expected to be made of glass, but the edges are expected to be more squared than the rounded ones on current models.

iPhone 12 is said to be sporting an aluminum frame, while the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max will come with a stainless steel exterior.

The rumors also point to a new TrueDepth camera system to help reduce the notch’s size on the front.

5G support to the iPhone 12 series

Rumors are suggesting that 2020 will be the first year that Apple will integrate 5G support to its flagship device. This will allow the iPhone to connect to 5G networks that are significantly faster than 4G LTE networks. They also hint that all 4 models of the iPhone 12 will carry this technology.

To power the iPhone 12 comes the A14 chip, the Apple-designed 5-nanometer powerhouse, manufactured by TSMC. The A14 is expected to bring efficiency improvements and processing speed to the upcoming Apple devices.
