The next big Apple launch is fast approaching, with the iPhone 12 range expected to land before long – possibly as soon as early September.
Over the past eight years and running, Apple has traditionally held its main iPhone launch event in September. While Apple has held other events in October, they are typically used for the launch of other leading products. Now, the question is, when is the exact date for iPhone 12?
As of now, no exact information has been revealed on when and what to expect from the event. There is no official release date for the iPhone 12 lineup either.
Apple iPhone 12 event leaks
On August 12, serial leaker Jon Prosser tweeted that the tech giant would break with tradition. It’s claimed that Apple will announce product changes to the iPad lineup and introduce the “Apple Watch Series 6” in the week starting September 7.
However, the annual Apple event will instead take place on October 12.
Another leaker by the name of “ihacktu” on Twitter also claimed another event date. According to the post, the event is happening on Sept. 8 for the iPhone alone. Meanwhile, a second event for the new iPad Pro and Apple’s Silicon Macs will take place on Oct. 27. These dates make sense since they seem to go along with the typical event structures of previous years.
Another rumored belief is that Apple itself has spoiled the date of the event. A “test” video for an event set to start at 1:15 pm Eastern Time on Sept. 10 appeared on Apple’s YouTube channel.
What to expect
The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic caused issues with many of the tech companies. Apple’s popular supply chain is thought to have interfered with Apple’s intended scheduling of shipping the iPhone.
Indeed, during its earnings call, Apple leadership confirmed it would not see a “normal” iPhone release scheduled for 2020. It has been confirmed that it will be delayed.
As for when the new mobile series will go on sale, this will typically depend on the timing of the event itself. But given Apple’s warning, all bets are off.
As reported by Apple Insider, we can expect a complete lineup of the iPhone 12 when the event comes. Rumors have primarily pointed to four models being released in this generation, in two tiers.
The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max are expected to sport 6.1-inch and 5.4-inch displays, respectively. For comparison, the upper tier will be the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens.
