Rumors around the tech community claim that the Apple iPhone 12 might support 5G, and that its release date was delayed until December.
Apple has released a new version of its flagship device every year. Despite the spread of the COVID-19 virus, it would appear that Apple will push through with its original schedule.
The Apple iPhone is usually released every September of the year. However, due to the current pandemic, Apple might delay it until December.
iPhone 12 with 5G capability
Apple has yet to release the official specs of the iPhone 12. However, word around the tech community is that it will support 5G networks.
A number of prominent analysts claim that Apple might release two versions of the iPhone 12. One version is slated for the international market, while the other one is strictly for the U.S. market only.
While 5G support is a welcome addition, it is important to note that not all 5G standards are similar. If recent developments and leaks are to be believed, one model could support sub-6GHz 5G. This technology is best used in rural areas.

A different 5G standard called the mmWave technology is faster, but its reliability depends on its proximity to a cellular tower. This standard is ideal for urban use where there are plenty of cell towers.
There is also the possibility that Apple will just cram these two technologies into the iPhone 12. While this is the ideal strategy, it will raise the cost of the device for sure.
iPhone 12 specs and release date
Much of what is known about the iPhone 12 specs come from rumors and leaks. Apple has been relatively quiet about divulging information about its flagship device.
Prominent Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the iPhone 12 will become in two variants. One has a 5.4-inch screen, while the other one sports a bigger 6.1-inch screen.
As for its iPhone 12 Pro model, it will also come in two variants. The Pro version will be available in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch.
Apple iPhones are known for its powerful set of cameras. The iPhone 12 is expected to sport a quad-camera design on the back composed of a wide camera, a telephoto, an ultra-wide camera, and a LiDAR scanner. A dual-camera setup on the front with ambient and infrared sensors is also expected.
As for its release date, the iPhone 12 will most likely hit stores in December. The COVID-19 pandemic may have caused Apple to rethink its release schedule.
