Apple produced a record number of iPhones last year. To be precise, the company made around 77.6 million units in the Q4 of 2020.
The recent analysis from TrendForce revealed that Apple manufactured 77.6 million units of iPhones in the fourth quarter of 2020. Moreover, the iPhone 12, alone, accounted for nearly 69.8 million units!
The California tech giant also achieved some new accomplishments.
Apple beats Samsung in global sales as well
With almost 78 million iPhones produced in the last quarter of 2020, it also outperformed Samsung. And on the global level, Apple surpassed Samsung by selling 10 million extra units.
Thus, the iPhone maker dominated its rival with a reasonably healthy margin.
The TrendForce report revealed that despite a pandemic situation, the company managed to sell many iPhones in 2020.
“Apple was able to push through the headwinds and capture market share by introducing 5G models and adopting an aggressive pricing strategy.”
There was praise for iPhone 12 also, which is currently the best-selling model in the current line-up.
“It should also be pointed out iPhone 12 devices accounted for about 90% of the iPhone production in 4Q20.”
On the other hand, Samsung saw a dip of 14 percent on a quarter-to-quarter basis. In terms of figures, it produced 67 million smartphones in Q4.
TrendForce, however, also predicted a good sales performance for all manufacturers in this year’s first quarter.
It also added that iPhone production would reach the number of 54 million in Q1 of 2021. And that the regular version, once again, will account for 80 percent of it.
Upcoming product news from the iPhone maker
Meanwhile, the California tech giant is busy with its 2021 plans. Keeping in mind its performance from last year, it will surely try to maintain its growth.
As per substantial leaks, the company’s first event will happen later this month, on March 23rd. The event is expected to reveal the much-awaited AirTags. It’s because the recently released iOS 14.5 beta introduced the interface to find lost items in the Find My app.
Along with the Tags, AirPods Studio headphones are also speculated to make an appearance, finally. Due to several issues, Apple delayed its launch last year.
Speaking of future announcements, then there will be the WWDC event in June. Its main highlight will be the new software version, iOS 15. Like iOS 14, it’s rumored to bring many privacy-based features, plus multiple UI changes.
Furthermore, there will be anticipated launches of the Apple Watch and also the next-gen iPhone models.
The iPhone 13 is said to develop many new additions like a smaller notch-less, 1TB storage option, and a faster refresh rate. These rumors should be taken with a grain of salt unless there is an official reveal from the company itself.
