New reports reveal that Apple has ordered the production of its chips for upcoming products, including Macs and iPhone 13.
A long-time Apple supplier, TSMC, will soon start producing 4nm chips for future Macs and iPhones. DigiTimes initially shared the news.
The company is yet to come up with an official event this year.
Apple silicon chips and the big move!
As per the latest sources, the California tech giant booked an initial capacity of TSMC’s N4. It’s for its the new generation of Macbooks.
Apple has also asked the supplier to produce the next-gen A15 chip for iPhone 13. It will move into the manufacturing phase by the end of May.
The company already has the accomplishment of introducing a 5nm-based M1 processor for the Macs. iPhone 12 and new iPad line-up’s A14 is also based on 5nm architecture.
Yet-to-arrive 4nm processors will surely boost the ongoing benchmarks and speed that Apple products have, compared to its rivals.
However, there’s no exact estimation of when the new chips will make their debut. When it comes to iPhone, then A15 may, hopefully, appear in late September this year.
It will be interesting to see their performance level and margin of improvement over the current series.
Upcoming announcements and events
Meanwhile, the Cupertino-based firm is planning a lot of things, secretively, for 2021.
But thanks to the leaks and industry insiders, vital information always manages to come out on the internet.
This new year will bring a new range of Apple products in the coming months.
An event is already rumored to take place in April. Previous leaks almost confirmed it for March, but it didn’t happen at all.
When it comes to anticipated arrivals of the first event from the company, AirTags and AirPods Studio are most-awaited. While the former will be an accessory to find lost items, the latter will be flagship headphones.
Due to several issues, their launch was postponed towards the end of 2020.
Furthermore, there is the WWDC in June which will prove to be huge. It’s expected to be mostly virtual, just like last year. iOS 15 is supposed to be the main highlight of the conference.
Similar to iOS 14, the next software version will reportedly introduce new privacy-based options and settings. A UI design overhaul is also rumored to make its way.
Before the year-end, Apple will eventually unveil the next generation of the iPhone series.
As per speculations, iPhone 13 will reveal several tweaks in the traditional design. A reduced notch, 1TB storage capacity, and new color variants are also on the wish list.
