Apple Watch is currently the best selling smartwatch for the first half of the year. The Apple wearable took 51.4% market share over its competitors.
Counterpoint Research posted the data showing the Apple Watch completely dominating the market. This has been the case in the smartwatch sales for the past few years.
But, it is interesting to see the sales jump from 43.2% last year to 51.4% this year. That is for the first quarter of both years.
Garmin took the second-best spot with a 9.4% market share. Surprisingly, Samsung sales went from 9.3% down to 7.2%. Huawei took up the third spot with an 8.3% sales share.
Other competitors, such as Fossil, still have a long way to go before reaching a two-digit market share.
Series 5 boosting Apple sales
Counterpoint Research mentioned that the Apple Watch Series 5 is currently the best selling smartwatch this 2020. It is for the first half of the year. But based on the trend, it might be the best selling smartwatch throughout the year.
The next best selling smartwatch is from Apple once again. The Series 3 is closely following the sales of the Series 5.
Huawei Watch GT2 took the third spot. Samsung has not found its stride in the smartwatch market and only managed to take the fourth spot.
According to Counterpoint senior analyst Sujeong Lim, “Apple continued to dominate the smartwatch market both in volume and value. Apple captured a record half of the market in terms of revenue due to strong demand for the Apple Watch S5 models.”
“In terms of shipment volumes, Apple Watch grew 22% globally,” he added.
The Apple Watch series is undoubtedly the best smartwatch today. The next generation might even be better.
