Johnny Depp was, reportedly, the man behind the online petition that wanted Warner Bros. to fire Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.
Is it true that Johnny Depp orchestrated the online petition to get Amber Heard out of Aquaman 2?
The actor is suing UK newspaper The Sun for libel after Dan Wootton called him a “wife-beater” in one of his articles. As the case is now on a London High Court, many revelations have been made about the former couple.
Johnny Depp tried to get Amber Heard out of the movie
According to The Sun, the 57-year-old tried to get his ex-wife out of the movie sequel by “orchestrating an online petition.”
He texted his assistant on June 4, 2016, to create an online petition to get the 34-year-old actress fired from the film. At the time, they recently split.
I want her replaced on that WB [Warner Brothers] film,” the text read.
The said petition now has over 400,000 signatures, asking Amber Heard’s removal from Aquaman 2.
At the court, The Sun’s lawyer, Sasha Wass, asked Johnny Depp if he wanted to “get his back on her.”
“I was feeling quite bitter,” he said, admitting he wanted her “replaced on the Aquaman sequel.” “I had been characterized globally, as The Sun put it, as a ‘wife-beater.'”
He even claimed that he went to Quasimodo from Cinderalla very quickly with all the allegations. “I was without a voice at that point,” he added.

Aquaman 2 release date and other details
The first Aquaman movie was released in 2018. It was a big hit, in line with the 2017 DC movies Wonder Woman and Justice League, per Next Alert.
Led by Jason Momoa as Aquaman himself and Amber Heard as Mera, it was the fifth-highest grossing film of 2018.
Fans expect all of the original casts to return to Aquaman 2, from Momoa to Nicole Kidman. But with Johnny Depp’s alleged online petition, it remains to be seen if it will include the famed model.
There are rumors Emilia Clarke or Blake Lively will replace Amber Heard as Mera. As Warner Bros. has yet to address the issue, fans should only take this assumption with a grain of salt.
Anyhow, the studio already announced that Aquaman 2 would be out on Dec. 22, 2022. It will be a long wait for fans to see if Amber Heard will be a part of it.
