Up-and-coming artist Jackson Caspersz gives fans a taste of what actor Joe Manganiello would look like as Mario from Super Smash Brothers.
Ever wonder what True Blood star Joe Manganiello would look like if he was dressed up in those illustrious Mario overalls? No?
Well, promising young illustrator and concept artist Jackson Caspersz has, and he would like to share his vision with the world.
Post-apocalyptic Mario
According to the caption that accompanied Caspersz’s Instagram post, he thought it would be a great fit to imagine Manganiello as a “big rig Mario.” A lot of people seem to agree with the artist since the illustration garnered almost 11,000 likes in just two days.
Caspersz’ reimagining channels a dark, dystopian vibe, with Mario-Niello sporting what appears to be a breastplate, knee pads, and combat boots. The art piece was merely the first in the illustrator’s upcoming Super Smash Brothers project.

Joe Manganiello’s career
Manganiello’s professional acting career kicked off with his role as Flash Thompson in Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man movie. From there, the actor caught his big break when he landed the part of Alcide Herveaux, a werewolf in the True Blood HBO series whom he played for five seasons.
He was also cast as Deathstroke, aka Slade Wilson, in the DC Extended Universe and appeared briefly in Justice League‘s post-credits scene.
Ben Affleck tweeted footage of the villain in August 2016, teasing Deathstroke’s appearance in Affleck’s upcoming The Batman movie which he was set to write and direct.

Unfortunately for Manganiello, Affleck dropped the project and was replaced by Matt Reeves at the beginning of the following year. This lead to heavy rewrites, one of which was the removal of Deathstroke as the speculated antagonist.
Although the supervillain was axed from the future The Batman film, rumors have been circulating of a Deathstroke solo movie that is reportedly in development.
