Netflix is developing Assassin’s Creed live-action, animated, and anime series as part of Ubisoft’s deal.
Assassin’s Creed is one of the most-played game franchises ever. This has captivated millions of players with top-notch graphics and immersive gameplay. Ubisoft Montreal Studio developed the game in the Anvil game engine. This game has craftily managed to present Sci-Fi aspects with convincing historical setting and stories. The game has effectively explored the genre of an action-adventure stealth game.
The game revolves around assassins fighting for the free will of humans and Templars, who believe in bringing order and peace only by control. They use advanced machines to access memories of the past’s assassins to find artifacts called pieces of Eden.
Assassin’s Creed: Its immense success
The game has sold 155 million copies of various installments since its release in 2007. The latest Assassin’s Creed franchise’s game, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, will release on November 10, 2020. The game will support PS5, Xbox Series X, and S with backward compatibility.
The game has already produced a live-action movie in 2016, starring Michael Fassbender. Justin Kurzel directed the movie. Though the movie had a stellar cast, it did not taste success. Critical reviews were mostly negative, but the movie survived with a moderate box office.
Adaptation plans
Netflix is now in a live-action adaptation spree, it seems. All of it started with the adaptation of The Witcher game into a TV series with Henry Cavill. The show became an outright hit. Netflix also announced to make a Resident Evil adaptation.
Netflix has struck a deal with Ubisoft to make live-action along with animated and anime TV series of Assassin’s Creed. The deal will “tap into the iconic video game’s trove of dynamic stories with global mass appeal for adaptations of live-action, animated, and anime series.”
Since the announcement, the only detail about the crew was about executive producers. Jason Altman, head of Ubisoft Film & Television, and Danielle Kreinik will serve as executive producers.

Peter Friedlander, VP, Original Series, Netflix stated:
“From its breathtaking historical worlds and massive global appeal as one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, we are committed to carefully crafting epic and thrilling entertainment based on this distinct IP and provide a deeper dive for fans and our members around the world to enjoy.”
This series is now looking for a director and other cast and crew members. The series will definitely be a genre-bending adaptation of the game. Due to the high expectations and the caliber of production houses, fans expect this venture to be worth it.
Ubisoft is not new to making adaptations of games, as it is now producing Tom Clancy’s the Division, starring Jake Gyllenhall and Jessica Chastain. The publisher is also producing Mythic Quest for Apple TV+.
