Ubisoft should start celebrating right now because Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has become the best-selling video game during Christmas!
According to Games Industry, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has outperformed every rival “AAA” title in 2020. It’s now the No.1 game, in terms of physical copies, during the season of Christmas.
What makes this moment special is that it’s the first time that a Ubisoft game has claimed the top spot on Christmas. And obviously, it’s the first time for Valhalla itself. Plus, it has become the very first non-FIFA and non-Call of Duty title to do so.
“Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” impressing everyone!
The latest reveal is related to sales figures for the recent week in which Cyberpunk 2077 dropped to the third spot. And it should come as no surprise, considering the highly negative response after its launch on December 10th.
Cyberpunk 2077 was the number one game last week. And it was because of the insane hype around it. However, as soon as the hype train slowed down, the truth got exposed. All the gamers are currently trying to get their refunds from the platforms from where they bought it in the digital version. It’s regrettable to see the CD Projekt Red game getting so bad reception.
But it’s the developer’s own mistakes that resulted in such a disastrous outcome. Recently, CDPR finally admitted that it didn’t check Cyberpunk‘s gameplay on all the consoles. It clearly means that 2020’s most-awaited game was unfinished, even after so many delays and a controversial overdrive!
Coming back to Valhalla, then another reason for its amazing sales are the price discounting offers. After that, it sold 66 percent more physical copies! Black Ops: Cold War slipped to the second position but is also selling very well. It’s giving a good and tough competition for the Ubisoft launch.
Here are the Top 10 best-selling Christmas games, in order, for the week ending Dec. 19th, 2020:
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Cyberpunk 2077
- FIFA 21
- Animal Crossings: New Horizons
- Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
- Just Dance 2021
- Ring Fit Adventure
- Super Mario 3D All-Stars
Best choices for gamers at the end of 2020
Meanwhile, the year has seen quite many great releases in the form of Ghost of Tsushima and Game of the Year The Last of Us Part 2! Apart from them, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Hades, Marvel’s Avengers, and Final Fantasy VII Remake are also some brilliant options.
But speaking in terms of overall impact, then it has to be Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. This new installment in the iconic franchise has turned out unprecedentedly remarkable for die-hard gamers.
