Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is shaping up to be one of the most exciting titles of 2020. Once it launches for the next generation of consoles, it’s expected to be one of the best games in the series, and the newly revealed details add more fuel to the hype.
In the series, players usually have the option to complete missions as silently and as deadly as possible. However, most of the time, it’s nearly impossible to complete quests without killing anyone. Things might be different in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla however, according to new details.
Pacifists choices exist
Ubisoft’s Ashraf Ishmail recently teased that players can complete missions without having to hurt or kill enemies in the game. This is big news as it can remove big progression barriers in the game.
Stealth has always been a part of the Assassin’s Creed series, but players are often forced to kill targets and mobs usually. Finding a pacifist route in a game with assassins may seem odd, but such an option adds both depth and difficulty to the game. There may be players that want to challenge themselves by finishing the game without killing anyone.
When it comes to how players can complete missions without killing in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, it’s not always about hiding in the shadows completely while finishing a mission.
“When you set out into the world, to go after whatever that is, you get embroiled into politics,” Ishmail says. He continues. “you get caught up into a journey. We give options within that. So sometimes, yes, it means that you can, let’s say, negotiate to resolve something.”
That being said, this is one of the unique features coming to Assassin’s Creed, and players are excited to see how it turns out.
Progression walls lessened
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Origins introduced RPG elements to the game, such as XP and leveling up. With the upcoming title, however, Ishmail wants to shake things up. This is to allow players to progress through the game easily as progression walls will be fewer. In the previous titles, players were forced to grind at times just to pass by.
That being said, pacifist routes may be a key element in breaking down those progression walls.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is being developed for the next generation of consoles and PC. It is expected to launch before the year ends, but no exact release date has been set yet.
