The ASUS ROG Phone 3 is poised to sport groundbreaking hardware, just like before.
TENAA has published what could be the closest and clearest look and feel we’ve ever received surrounding the ASUS ROG Phone 3. The listing, which bears detailed specifications and a few renders of the third smartphone in ASUS’ ROG phone series, reveals expected ludicrous hardware, akin to the lineup’s previous and current generations.
A la ROG Phone II
In terms of design, the ASUS ROG Phone 3 sports familiar aesthetics, which we’ve already seen on the ROG Phone II. The new ROG Phone features a similar rectangular shape, a horizontal camera array on its rear, and a screen.
Quite notably, an extra camera on the rear of the phone can be seen. It is tipped that the additional camera could be a telephoto lens, while the primary camera is intimated to be a 64MP sensor. Meanwhile, the device’s Aura RGB strip, which lights up the ROG logo, is also shown to be making a return.
The ASUS ROG Phone 3 is revealed to feature a large 6.59-inch AMOLED display, with a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080. There is also a fingerprint scanner underneath the screen. Its display, like the ROG Phone II’s, is pegged not to feature any notch or cutout.
The phone’s TENAA listing didn’t out any specification in terms of the screen’s refresh rate. The third-generation ROG Phone is also expected to launch with one color variant – Bright Black.
One of the most powerful Android smartphones
Inside, it is suggested that the ROG Phone 3 is shaping up to be one of the most powerful smartphones in the Android world. The phone’s TENAA listing reveals that the device comes with an overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset. While the lone core on the flagship chipset is usually clocked at 2.84GHz, the ROG phone can generate up to a maximum frequency of 3.091GHz.
The handset is also listed with a maximum of 16GB of RAM, making the third smartphone feature such offering, next to the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and the Nubia Red Magic 5G. The phone’s available storage options are 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB – all of which are presumed to be of a UFS 3.0 storage type.
Another massive offering that is listed is the handset’s 6,000mAh battery, which should charge over a USB Type-C port. Note that this is the same capacity on the ROG Phone II.
The gaming smartphone is expected to ship with Android 10, right with ROG UI customizations.
The ASUS ROG Phone 3 is rumored to launch in July.
