The ROG Phone III is set to become the fastest Snapdragon 865-powered Android smartphone in the competition.
The ROG Phone III’s release could very well be just around the corner. This imminence is evidenced by a slew of leaks and speculations surfacing on a daily basis. The latest to have emerged from the grapevine is easily the one its fans have all been waiting for.
In full glory
Recently, a reliable tipster has gifted us what appears to be the Asus ROG Phone III’s key specifications, right alongside a bunch of images that shape the phone’s crucial design elements.
Accordingly, the gaming smartphone is likely to sport a 6.59-inch OLED screen with an FHD+ resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. The accompanying images also suggest that the phone’s front lacks any display cutouts or holes. The front panel also features symmetrical bezels on the top and bottom.
Meanwhile, the back of the device is very much similar to that of the previous generation ROG Phone. As it stands, it still features a pattered glass back, an LED ROG logo placed in the middle, and the familiar horizontal camera alignment.
A disparate camera design
Note, however, that the handset’s camera module is rendered slightly different. It now sports a disparate shape, and it appears to be sticking out a bit more than the one on its predecessor. The module is also notably long enough to accommodate three sensors. This could indicate that the phone may arrive with a telephoto camera, apart from the normal and ultrawide lenses.
The ROG Phone III is still headed to be unveiled as one of the heftiest gaming phones around. The leakster claims that the phone would come with a thickness of 9.85mm and should weigh 240g.
Solid flagship internals
Under the proverbial hood, the ROG Phone III is set to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chipset. It was intimated lately that the phone’s SoC would be overclocked, claiming that it would be the fastest Android smartphone at the time of its launch.
The phone’s chipset’s central Kryo 585 core would likely be the one that is slated to be clocked at 3.09GHz, as opposed to the 2.84Ghz clock on the CPU’s regular version.
Meanwhile, the Asus ROG Phone III is tipped to launch with a staggering 16GB of RAM and a massive 6,000mAh battery, with support for 30W fast wired charging.
The Asus ROG Phone III, alongside the Zenfone 7, is set to debut in July 2020.
